One of the most elegant native groundcovers, Meehania cordata is a perfect groundcover to shade garden floors, rock gardens and hanging baskets. This plant spreads by stolons, though not aggressively, creating a lovely mat or cascade of green, heart shaped leaves. In late summer and early spring, Meehania cordata produces small lavender blue flowers, which hover just above the leaves.   This charming species is native from Pennsylvania to North Carolina, west to Illinois and Tennessee. Certainly a Native NY Gardens favorite!
